How did Botafix come about? How did it all begin?

We were involved in the design and graphic production of FloraPlus Magazine from its very first pilot issue. When you work on a magazine, you naturally become familiar with the industry it serves. As a result, we also started providing design services for several companies within the ornamental plants sector.

The turning point came when one of the companies we worked with said, “We need software specifically designed for a nursery.” That request marked the beginning of Botafix. As we continued developing the project and gained a deeper understanding of the industry’s needs, Botafix evolved into the platform it is today.

Are there similar solutions abroad?

Yes. Nurseries around the world have been using specialized management systems for many years. Solutions such as Growmaster in the UK and WinTree, which is used internationally, are well-established platforms adopted by many businesses.

These systems are powerful, but they generally rely on manual data entry and are primarily office-based. When we examined how nurseries actually operate, we noticed a disconnect between field operations and the software.

The product is selected in the field, decisions are made there, yet the data is often entered into the system later. Recognizing this gap, we designed Botafix to be much more than a system where information is entered afterwards. Instead, it is a platform that generates, processes and updates data naturally as work is being carried out.

How can someone become a Botafix member?

Joining Botafix is very straightforward. Simply complete the registration form on our website and you can start your 14-day free trial immediately.

To ensure secure registrations, the person creating the account must be the authorized manager of the nursery. Company information is verified through the Turkish MERSIS registry to prevent duplicate registrations and confirm business identity.

What happens after registration?

Once a company or an individual registers, they are welcomed by an interface designed to be intuitive and easy for anyone to use.

You simply enter the plants in your nursery or production fields using either their botanical (Latin) or common Turkish names. For container-grown plants, you record details such as container volume and plant dimensions. For field-grown plants, you can enter trunk diameter, height, pricing and other characteristics. If your production is divided into different blocks or sections, you can also specify the exact production area for each plant.

You may enter all this information yourself, or if your data already exists in an Excel spreadsheet, simply send it to us and we will import it on your behalf.

Once your data has been uploaded, you gain a complete overview of every plant in your nursery, production fields or greenhouses together with all of its technical specifications.

As soon as these records are entered, products are automatically created within the system. The entire setup process is simple and can be completed without any on-site installation or technical assistance. There is no need for us to visit your nursery or office—you can start using Botafix immediately.

Could you explain the data management features in more detail?

Certainly.

For example, when entering plant prices, you can define separate retail and wholesale prices. If you sell imported products, you can identify them as imported and enter their prices directly in Euro or US Dollars.

If you work with products supplied by other growers, you can also create dedicated pricing specifically for those products.

Every product and every record entered into Botafix automatically receives a unique stock code, allowing you to build a clean and organized inventory structure. If inventory management is not required, stock codes can simply be disabled.

Once your products have been entered, you can manage both locally produced and imported plants within the same system.

When imported products are sold, Botafix automatically retrieves the official exchange rate published by the Central Bank at the time of the transaction. The software calculates the conversion, applies VAT where required and transfers the final sales figures directly to your accounting records.

What advantages does Botafix provide?

All product information that nursery staff need when assisting customers is already available on their smartphones or tablets through Botafix’s employee interface, which is managed by the nursery administrator.

Using a mobile device, employees can record notes, mark selected plants and instantly generate a PDF document that can be forwarded to the accounting department for invoicing.

At the same time, these actions automatically update your database.

This means staff no longer have to return to the office to enter the same information again. Inventory remains continuously up to date, quotations and order preparation become significantly faster, and every member of the team works from the same live data.

In short, conventional software requires work to be completed first and recorded later. Botafix updates the system while the work is actually being done.

Botafix does not force nurseries to learn an entirely new way of working. Instead, it digitizes the workflow they already have, allowing operational data to be captured naturally as part of everyday work.

Software requires continuous maintenance, security updates and new features. Does this affect the subscription price?

No.

As long as your subscription remains active, server management, security updates, performance optimization and technical support are all included.

There are no additional maintenance fees for our members. Managing and maintaining the infrastructure is entirely our responsibility.

Finally, let’s talk about security.

Botafix is a cloud-based platform built on infrastructure that meets international standards. It provides the same level of security and performance trusted by many leading banks and multinational companies operating in Turkey.

To give a practical example, our servers run on Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the world’s leading cloud infrastructure providers.

All sensitive data is protected using AES-256 encryption.

When it comes to security, the most important responsibility for our users is to create strong passwords, avoid sharing them with others and refrain from using weak or easily guessed credentials.

When these best practices are followed, attempting to compromise Botafix is no different from attempting to breach the security of Amazon or a major financial institution.
